The flat, accessible Slocan Valley Rail Trail is ideal for leisurely snowshoeing and beginner Nordic skiing, offering picturesque views of the Slocan River.

  • Multiple access points along the trail for varied distances.
  • Check out the Jack Rabbit Interpretive Trail or the Kuskanax Hot Springs Trail near Nakusp.

Arrow Slocan has three nordic areas and also groomed scenic trails that connect skiers with the remote nature beyond the track. No two spots are the same.

  • Always pay user fees or make a donation.
  • All of these trails are volunteer-run.
  • Be prepared, leave a trip plan, and remember to leave no trace.
Varied Cross-Country Trails

Explore 11 km of groomed trails for both skate and classic skiing near Hills. Options range from challenging ascents for experts to gentle loops for beginners.

  • Also maintains a 5 km groomed section of the rail trail heading north from Hills
Nakusp’s nordic gem

Maintained by the Arrow Lakes Cross Country Ski Club, these 8.2 km of groomed trails offer a scenic Nordic experience just east of Nakusp, complete with a warming hut.

  • Features a convenient warming hut.
  • Excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing.
  • Offers beautiful mountain vistas.

East of New Denver, this trail offers unique views of historic Sandon and surrounding mountains. Enjoy groomed sections and an ungroomed spur for more adventure.

  • Track-set for 3 km from the Sandon Rail Station warming hut.
  • Additional 3 km ungroomed Cody Spur for advanced skiers.
  • Passes by the historic Altoona mine site.
  • Combines history with winter sport.

The Wensley Creek Cross Country Ski trails are maintained by the volunteer members of the Arrow Lakes Cross Country Ski Club.
