On a mission to deeply relax and fully reflect.
Drawn to the mystery of the Arrow Lakes and Slocan Valley and the stillness here, Elena savours the inspirational side of a balanced life in the Arrow Slocan.
Savasan-ahh
After moving to Arrow Slocan 5 years ago, Elena re-discovered a love of yoga and likes to split her classes between Bindu Community Studio in Winlaw and Koots Roots Yoga in Nakusp. She comes for the small classes and kind teachers, but the fresh air and mountain views also keep her energized.
Pampering, Mountain Yogi Style
When she feels like treating herself, Elena loves to book an overnight trip for her and her girlfriends at Halcyon Hot Springs for aromatherapy massages and organic facials, always followed by a healing soak in the mineral pools. Why? These waters are truly magical, used first for centuries by local First Nations. The water has even been bottled and shipped as a health tonic as far away as England!
Natural Hot Springs
Whenever friends are visiting, they pile into her truck to head out on one of Nakusp’s many local hikes. A favourite? – the Nakusp Hot Springs Trail. In the winter it makes a great snowshoe, in summer a hike. The wooden footbridge over the Kuskanax River is a beauty and any hike ends in a Nakusp Hot Springs soak.
The Snowy Side of Life
To work up an appetite, heading out for a cross country ski at Wensley Creek Trails always does the trick. Downhill adventure starts at the Summit Lake Ski Hill. When the nieces come out to visit, they always beg for a slide session at the ski hill’s Tube Park.
